About Us
We Don't Just Source Tea. We Grow It.
Three sisters. One family estate. Moran, Assam.
Most tea brands you see online don't grow anything. They buy leaves at auction β sometimes from gardens they've never visited β blend them with cheaper dust to stretch the batch, put a premium label on the tin, and ship it to you. You'd never know. We know, because we've watched it happen to our own leaves.
We are Bhumika, Nandita, and Kritika β the thirdgeneration of a tea-growing family in Moran, Assam. Our family has been cultivating this land for over 25 years.
We grew up in these gardens. We know what a properly plucked leaf looks like, what a second flush smells like, and exactly how long it takes to get from bush to your cup when there are no middlemen in the way. BETEAYA is what happens when the daughters of a tea estate decide to stop watching their best leaves disappear into someone else's brand.
THE NAMEβ WHY BETEAYA?
The name means something.
BETEAYA comes from Betiyan-daughters, in Hindi.
It's a small thing, but it matters to us. This brand exists because of what our
parents built, and it exists in the hands of their daughters. The name isn't
branding. It's just true. You may also see us as Bloom & Brew β that's our legal family entity. Same garden, same people, same tea. The names are different; the hands that pack your tea are the same.
THE PROBLEM WE SOLVED
What we saw, and why we had to change it.
Our family grew premium Assam tea. And for years, that tea went to auction, where it got bought by large brands, blended with lower-grade leaves to bring the cost down, and sold as something it wasn't.
The good stuff got diluted. The garden got credit for none of it. And the person making chai at home had no idea that what was in their tin was a fraction of what it could have been. That's the system. It's how most of the tea industry works. We didn't want to be part of it anymore.
THE FARM-TO-CUP PROMISE
From our garden. Nowhere else.
Every tea we sell is grown on our family estate in Moran, Assam. Processed in our own factory. Packed and shipped without passing through an auction house, a broker, or a blending warehouse.
Β
βΒ No auctions.Β We don't bid for old tea. Ours is harvested fresh.
βΒ No middlemen.Β No brokers. No wholesalers. Direct from us to you.
βΒ No blending.Β We don't mix our leaves with cheaper grades to stretch a batch.
βΒ One garden.Β Everything comes from the same land, tended by the same family.
βΒ One step.Β Grown, processed and shipped by us. That's it.
Β This is what 'farm to cup' actually means βnot a phrase on a label, but a supply chain short enough to count on one hand.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR CUP
Why it tastes different.
Real Assam tea β the kind that comes straight from the estate without being blended or sitting in a warehouse β isn't just 'strong.'
It's malty. It has depth. The orthodox whole leaf has a natural amber colour and a finish that lingers. The CTC chai, when it's primary grade with no dust filler, brews reddish-brown and cuts clean through milk.
These are things you notice when the tea is what it says it is.
From our hands to yours.
We don't have a warehouse full of inventory or a team of marketers. We have a garden, a factory, three sisters, and a strong opinion about what tea should taste like.
If that sounds like the kind of brand you want to buy from β welcome.
